A Seabury scuba diverSince the summer, she has earned two additional certifications (dry suit and night dive). She has more than 30 dives logged so far, including diving with manta rays in Hawaii and reef sharks in Honduras. She is well on her way to achieving the status of dive master.
Not only does scuba diving require quite a bit of physical conditioning (her gear, oxygen tank and weight belt can weigh over 40 pounds), she also must constantly use mathematics and critical thinking skills to ensure safety under water. She's her father's "dive buddy." He literally puts his life in her hands and trusts her completely when they dive together. She is learning a lot about marine life, and through scuba diving has become an advocate for sharks.
