A happy ending

I did the best I could during my first oral presentation, knowing that more judges would come. The first judge looked through my science journal like something was missing. I put that thought in the back of my head, but still as I read, it seemed to bug me. The next judge came over, and the next, and the next. Four judges came over before they excused the first and second grade students. And still it bothered me about how that first judge looked through my journal. I might have forgotten all about it, except all the other judges did the same thing. After the science fair was over, I found out that my science journal was missing some information, like my questions and predictions. I only included the data and my calculations in my journal. I was almost positive I wouldn't get a prize. Afterwards, we went to the auditorium to watch a math and science show. We stayed a while longer after the show to try and finish the Bucky Ball and other puzzles the show had brought. The award ceremony started. We had just finished the Bucky Ball when my name was called. I ran up to the stage. I did not get an honorable mention, or a first, second, or third place ribbon. Instead, I got something else that was different. I got a Weird Science Award for an interesting project and a unique subject. With the award, I got a glow in the dark lab kit. So I turned from being nervous to being proud. I could not believe that I had won something even though my journal was not complete! My first Regional Science Fair had a happy ending. The experience of participating in the science fair was very exciting, and a whole lot of studying. I worked hard on my project and found out things I never knew before about my subject. I am looking forward to the next Regional Science Fair. And next year I will not forget to complete my science journal!
