A mind-expanding infusion of art & math! Visit Tacoma Art Museum & Museum of Glass, then apply principles of balance, perspective & unbounded creativity to create personal masterpieces. Using Seabury's Theater District location as a launching point, students and instructors will use Pierce Transit's light rail to travel to the museums. A stop at Tinkertopia for additional inspiration and unique materials is part of the creative adventure. The afternoons will be spent in Seabury's Design Studio, where students will combine principles of math and engineering with creativity and design to produce three dimensional artworks. Seabury's middle school faculty members have been using the city as their classroom for more than 10 years. We're excited to share some of our favorite places of learning and inspiration.

Physics is Phun

Date: Monday, April 6,-Thursday, April 9
Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Seabury on Broadway, 924a Broadway
Ages: First through fourth graders

In this lab camp, explore physics – the science of motion & energy. Monday and Tuesday, we will explore electricity as we learn to make circuits, figure out the difference between conductors and insulators and explore the static electricity all around us.  We will make light up greeting cards,  build models of atoms and use what we have learned to make unique creations in Seabury’s Design Lab. Wednesday and Thursday we will explore the forces that make things move, stop and travel through space.  We will make balloon powered vehicles, build a guitar and create maze with light and mirrors.  We will put it all together to make rollercoasters using materials in Seabury’s Design Lab.  Get ready for a high energy week of investigation, experimentation, and creation!

Before care (8-9 a.m.) and after care (3-4 p.m.) will be offered April 6-9 for $10 per hour.
