The Center for Gifted Education
premieres our first
Educator Series this fall!
How does our Educator Series Work?
Teachers throughout our region are invited to join us for a two-part workshop event. The first portion of the Educator Series is a free seminar we call our “Speaker Series." We bring in an expert in the gifted education field to speak on a specific topic. This is a one to two hour event open to both educators and families. The follow-up session is a two-hour session just for educators and dives a little deeper into the topic for applicable use by teachers. Those attending both the Speaker Series Seminar portion and the follow-up Educator Series portion will earn three clock hours through OSPI.
What is our next Educator Series topic?
Join us this fall for our Grit & Growth Mindset in Gifted Education Educator Series!
In Part One – Speaker Series, we will hear from Austina DeBonte, regional expert on giftedness and president of Northwest Gifted Child Association. What predicts success? Is intelligence or grit and growth mindset more important? She’ll review the research, discuss the causes of underachievement – and most importantly – offer ideas on what to do about it.
In Part Two- Educator Series, Sandi Wollum, Seabury head of school and Tiffany Price, Seabury assistant head of school will lead a further discussion on this topic and how to apply this knowledge in the classroom setting, whether you are working with a few gifted students or an entire class.
