Educators Series Event

November 12, 2019 5:00 PM

“GRIT & GROWTH MINDSET IN GIFTED EDUCATION – NOVEMBER WORKSHOP”
Teachers throughout our region are invited to a two-part workshop. The first portion of our new Educator Series is attendance at our free Gifted Speaker Series, a talk by a gifted ed expert open to educators and families. The follow-up is a two-hour session just for educators, which dives deeper into the topic. Those attending both will earn three clock hours through OSPI.
In Part One – Speaker Series, we will hear from Austina DeBonte, regional expert on giftedness and president of Northwest Gifted Child Association. Is intelligence or grit and growth mindset more important? She’ll review research, discuss causes of underachievement – and offer ideas on what to do about it.
Tuesday, Nov. 5 • 7 p.m. • Free • Carwein Hall, University of Washington Tacoma

In Part Two- Educator Series, Sandi Wollum, Seabury head of school and Tiffany Price, Seabury assistant head of school will lead a discussion on how to apply this knowledge in the classroom, whether you are working with a few gifted students or an entire class.
Tuesday, Nov. 12 • 5-7 p.m. • $24 (includes dinner) • 924A Broadway, Tacoma
