July 20, 2020 9:00 AM
When: July 20-24; 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Who: Incoming 6th through 8th graders
Cost: $125
This camp explores the real Renaissance through images, text, astronomy, and architecture. Students will build DIY versions of Renaissance technologies such as moveable typeface, camera obscura, siege weapons and telescopes. Campers will become the curators of their own miniature scale museum of Renaissance art. We will visit the Karpeles Manuscript Museum, a planetarium and pertinent architectural sites around the city to explore ideas from the period. Students will also learn technical and perspective drawing, the basics of decorative sculpture, art history through appreciation of the masters and physical science through lenses and projectiles.
