Founded in 1989, Seabury is the only independent school in the South Puget Sound with a program specifically designed for intellectually advanced children. Children from Tacoma, Federal Way, Kent, Auburn, Gig Harbor, Puyallup and throughout the South Puget Sound region come to Seabury for its personalized approach to education and emphasis on the development of creative and analytical thinking skills. Seabury is a member of the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (PNAIS) and the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges (NASC).
Seabury School Features:
- Prekindergarten An enriching, hands-on, experiential, full-day program for 4 year old children who are ready complex, challenging learning opportunities in a supportive, developmentally appropriate environment. Housed at Seabury's Brown's Point campus.
- Elementary Program (K-5th grade) Designed to meet the needs of highly capable learners. Housed at Seabury's Brown's Point Campus.
- Middle School Program: (6th - 8th grade) A unique middle school program housed on a satellite campus in downtown Tacoma.
- Small class sizes (usually 15 or fewer students)
- Full day prekindergarten program
- Full-day kindergarten program
- A highly skilled faculty with extensive training and experience in education for highly capable learners
- Specialist Programs for all students. Prekindergarten and elementary students attend French, Physical Education, Music, and Library each week. Middle school students continue French, make weekly visits to the Tacoma Public Library and the downtown YMCA, and work with a variety of guest artists
- Lower school Library Media Center contains 11,000+ volumes
- 2 lower school computer labs with technology incorporated into instruction at all grade levels. Middle school features a laptop program.
- Before and after care are available. Before care begins at 7 a.m. and after care ends at 6 p.m.
- Shuttle transportation provided between campuses each morning and afternoon. Contact Seabury's office for information about our before and after school transporation program, and expansion of services for 2010-2011.
- Variety of after school enrichment programs offered for both elementary and middle school students
